Moms are incredible people on a day to day basis for all that they do for their families, but have you ever met a Gold Ribbon Mom?
A Gold Ribbon Mom is a mom that began her role with the words "Your child has cancer." Words that are crushing and full of raw emotion, but this mom still picks herself up every day to advocate and support her child. A Gold Ribbon Mom asks questions, looks for solutions, and keeps moving forward. Her mantra is to believe, breathe and be positive in a journey she never asked for, or wanted. A Gold Ribbon Mom is strong because she has to be and because she has no other choice.
Gold Ribbon Moms are mothers to children or adolescents that are in treatment for pediatric cancer, that have completed treatment for pediatric cancer or that are deceased as a result of pediatric cancer.
The international awareness symbol for Childhood Cancer is the gold ribbon. Unlike other cancer awareness ribbons, which focus on a singular type of cancer, the gold ribbon is a symbol for all forms of cancer affecting children and adolescents.
This Mother’s Day, nominate a Gold Ribbon Mom that you know for her bravery, advocacy and support that she gives to her cancer warrior and family.
This is a group that plays an instrumental role in children’s cancer treatments, but largely goes unrecognized.
