We can’t wait to see what you create!

There's no wrong way to decorate Gold Pumpkins for the Cure so long as you include color GOLD to celebrate the resiliency of pediatric cancer warriors. Here are some ideas and tips to inspire you:

Simply paint any pumpkin gold (shhh...faux pumpkins work too!)

    • Gold spray paint is great for quick dry.
    • Gold leaf paint is recommended for a one coat opaque finish.
    • Gold acrylic paint is easy to find at most stores, but often needs a second coat for vibrant gold (mix with glue for better coverage)

Another twist on your solid gold pumpkin is called the Gratitude Pumpkin.  Gather with your loved ones and use a sharpie to write words that describe what you are thankful for on dry gold paint. Stickers or kids handprints can be added too!

To achieve glitter polka dots, or other pattern, trace a design on your pumpkin and then follow with gold glitter glue.

For glitter designs with straight edges:

    • Apply painters tape to your pumpkin. (The areas of your pumpkin without the painters tape will ultimately be the areas covered in glitter.)
    • Next, apply tacky glue to all areas of your pumpkin without the painters tape and sprinkle heavily with gold glitter.
    • Once the glittered glue dries, remove the painters tape.

    Marker Design Pumpkins

Use metallic gold permanent markers or gold paint pens to draw a design on your pumpkin.

    Tips:

    • Black works well as an accent color to highlight gold.
    • Colored metallic permanent markers are fun to incorporate too!
    • Marker designs seem to especially stand out on white pumpkins.

Pumpkin painting is great for all ages and simple enough for even the youngest of kids.

    Tips:

    • Use colorful tempera paint or any kid's washable paint for younger kids. To help the paint adhere to the pumpkin, make a 50/50 mixture of school glue and paint. If you don't add glue, the paint will flake off after it dries.
    • Acrylic paint works well too, but can stain clothes.
    • Once the colorful paint is dry add glitter glue, gold paint or gold stickers.
